Royal Enfield Set To Launch ABS-equipped Classic 350 Variant

The best-selling motorcycle from Royal Enfield is about to get new colours too

Royal Enfield Set To Launch ABS-equipped Classic 350 Variant

Some you may know that Royal Enfield is planning to launch a new motorcycle very soon. Although the company has been tight-lipped about what the upcoming motorcycle could be, it has sent us an invite for the launch event, which is slated to take place on August 28. Sources close to the Chennai-based manufacturer have confirmed that the bike will be a 350cc offering with enhanced braking performance. This leads us to believe that it could be the first-ever Royal Enfield to sport a dual-channel ABS!

Since the press invite also mentions that the upcoming motorcycle will be inspired by the Indian Armed Forces, we expect the company to launch something akin to the Classic 500 Pegasus Edition. This means the company could take a Classic 350, slap on dual-channel ABS and give it some minor cosmetic changes, including colours inspired by army fatigues.

The Classic 350 is powered by a 356cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 20PS of power at 5250rpm and 28Nm of torque at 4000rpm. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a chain-driven 5-speed gearbox.

The bike uses a single downtube frame with 35mm telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers with 5-step preload adjustability at the rear. Although the standard Classic 350 gets a disc-drum setup, we expect the upcoming variant to sport the 240mm rear disc from the Gunmetal Grey variant. Meanwhile, a 280mm disc will continue to find a place up front. Expect it to feature the same set of rubbers as the standard bike - a 90/90 19-inch front and a 110/90 18-inch rear tyre.

Thanks to the addition of dual-channel ABS and new paint schemes, we expect Royal Enfield to charge a premium of around Rs 20,000 over the standard Classic 350, which is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Stay tuned to BikeDekho for all the updates from the launch event, which is set to take place on August 28.
