'Josh Is Commendable': Retired General Offers To Help Boy Get Into Army After His Midnight Run Video

The viral video posted by award-winning filmmaker Vinod Kapri on social media on Sunday evening has gone viral on the internet.

New Delhi: Lt. Gen. Satish Dua (Retd.) on Monday has reacted to a video of a 19-year-old boy Pradeep Mehra who runs a 10-km stretch daily from his work in Noida's Sector 16 to his home in Barola.

The video caught Lt. Gen. Satish Dua’s attention and he has offered to help him. “His Josh is commendable, and to help him pass the recruitment tests on his merit, I've interacted with Colonel of KUMAON Regiment, Lt Gen Rana Kalita, the Eastern Army Commander. He is doing the needful to train the boy for recruitment into his Regiment. Jai Hind (sic)” the Retired General said in a tweet.

The viral video posted by award-winning filmmaker Vinod Kapri on social media on Sunday evening has gone viral on the internet.

"You will fall in love with this child if you listen to his reason," the director wrote as he shared the video on Twitter.

In the viral video, Pradeep can be seen running towards home at high speed with a bag on his shoulder. Pradeep told Kapri that he runs every night after work because he didn't have time during the day to exercise.

The director offered him a lift, but despite repeated requests, he refused.

"My routine will be affected if I come with you," he says, smiling - and without breaking stride - as he refuses Kapri's offer of a lift.

When he was asked about the reason why he was running all the way, Pradeep said, "To join the army."

Meanwhile, Businessman Anand Mahindra also could not restrain himself from praising Pradeep Mehra and called the young man 'Aatmanirbhar'.

"This is indeed inspiring. But you know what my #MondayMotivation is? The fact that he is so independent & refuses the offer of a ride. He doesn’t need help. He is Aatmanirbhar!", he wrote on his Twitter.

The physical test is the initial and most important step in the recruitment process of the Indian Army. In which there are many other things besides good run. This is followed by a medical test and then a written test. And during the Covid, the recruitment process for different trades of the army has been disrupted.
