Schools To Reopen In Puducherry From July 16

Puducherry registered 145 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours with no fatality due to the deadly virus

Puducherry: All the schools for students in classes 9-12 will reopen from July 16 in the Union Territory of Puducherry, said Chief Minister N Rangaswamy. Besides schools, colleges to be reopened on the same day in the Union Territory.

Meanwhile, there has been a dip in Covid cases in Puducherry. In the last 24 hours, 145 cases of Covid-19 with no fatalities have been registered, the Director of Health & Family Welfare Services, S Mohan Kumar said on Sunday. This is after six months that there is no Covid-related death in the UT. So far, 1,769 people have succumbed to the deadly virus.

The vaccination drive in Puducherry has been successful so far according to the UT's Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan: "Vaccination has picked up in Puducherry, we've crossed over 5 lakh vaccinations. Our aim is to vaccinate the whole UT before Aug 15. People had vaccine hesitancy but now they've overcome it. Puducherry will be totally vaccinated before Aug 15th, as per our plan."
