Police Rescue 26 Stranded Tourists From Kakeri Lake In Himachal's Kangra

All the tourists were brought safely to Dharamshala. All these tourists had gone to Kareri Lake on Sunday morning.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), in a joint operation with McLeodganj police, rescued 26 tourists stranded at the Kareri Lake in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district on Sunday night at 10 PM. Officials said all of them were trapped there due to heavy rainfall, as reported by news agency ANI. All the tourists were brought safely to Dharamshala. All these tourists had gone to Kareri Lake on Sunday morning. There was a flood due to the sudden rain. Due to flood, the tourists could not cross the road between Kareri Dharamshala. So far, no loss of life has been reported from the incident.

Kangra Superintendent of Police (SP) Shalini Agnihotri said, as quoted by ANI, "At around 10 PM last night, we rescued around 26 persons in the Kareri Lake area, who were stranded due to heavy rain."

A similar incident occurred in the Bhagsunag-Naddi trek region, where a few people were rescued yesterday by the police. These incidents come days after a separate incident of landslide in the state's Lahaul and Spiti districts between the Chatru and Dorno Nallah regions.

The SP also spoke about a similar incident in the Bhagsunag-Naddi trek region, where a few people were rescued yesterday by the police.

Agnihotri further said, "We also got the same information from the Bhagsunag-Naddi trek and a few persons were rescued from there as well on Sunday evening," reported ANI.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological (MeT) Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain for the next two days. The Shimla Center of the Meteorological Department said that in the last 12 hours, Palampur in Kangra has received 57 mm of rain, 43.3 mm in Dharamshala and 34 mm in Nagrota Suriyan.

The weather department said no positive change in temperatures was seen despite light to moderate rainfall at some places in the state earlier.

After predicting a wet spell in the state from June 19 to 22, the weather officials have cautioned people of the inclement weather conditions in parts of the state. They said there could be poor visibility, traffic congestion, disruption in electric supply, and damage to standing crops, fruit plants and young seedlings over the next few days.

In view of the current weather conditions and future predictions, they have also issued advisories and guidelines to take adequate security measures for the citizens, reported ANI.
