Centre Has Spent Rs 1 lakh Crore On Projects In Kerala, Building Infrastructure Priority: PM Modi

While addressing BJP workers, PM said, "Centre is working to ensure basic facilities and housing for the poor and marginalised in Kerala."

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a 2-day visit to Kerala from Thursday, addressed BJP workers in Kochi on the occasion of Onam and said, "The central government is working to open at least one medical college in every district, and it will hugely benefit the youth of Kerala. To develop modern infrastructure, the BJP government is spending around Rs 1 lakh crore on multiple projects in Kerala."

"The biggest priority of Centre is to provide fundamental facilities to every citizen and build modern infrastructure," he said. While addressing BJP workers, PM said, "Centre is working to ensure basic facilities and housing for the poor and marginalised in Kerala."

During his visit, PM will flag off the country's first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at the Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. 

On the evening of September 1, he will visit Sri Adi Shankara Janmabhoomi area, the holy birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya in Kalady village near Cochin airport. 

At the same time, the Prime Minister will commission the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited at 9.30 am on September 2. 

After this, in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 3800 crore in Mangaluru, Karnataka.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement that Prime Minister Modi has been a strong supporter of Atmanirbhar Bharat, especially in strategic areas. The PMO said that this is an important step towards self-reliance in the defense sector. The Prime Minister will commission the first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

Designed by the Indian Navy's in-house Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and maintained by Cochin Shipyard Limited, a public sector shipyard under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Vikrant has been built with state-of-the-art automation facilities and is one of India's maritime The largest ship ever built in history.
