No Provision For 3rd Dose Of Covid Vaccine After Taking Two: Centre To Kerala HC

Kochi: A Kannur native submitted a petition to Kerala HC for taking third dose of covid vaccine as the first two jabs of Covaxin he was administered is not approved by the Saudi Arabian government. Girikumar, a welder by profession, works in Saudi.
He got the first two jabs of Covaxin, but the Saudi Food & Drug Authority has not approved Covaxin in their country. The Kerala man wanted to get Covishield shot which has an approval in he country he works. He had put forward his issue at the Kerala High Court, but the Central government said there is no provision for the third dose of Covid vaccine in our country.
The central government submitted this before the Kerala HC during the hearing of a petition submitted by a Kannur native who wanted to be re-vaccinated with Covishield now, as Covaxin was not approved in Saudi Arabia where he had his job

"There is no international guideline for administering the third dose of the vaccine. An overdose can lead to health problems," the Centre said as quoted by Mint.
Girikumar returned to India in January due to the second wave in Saudi Arabia. He took two shots of Covaxin after Centre started vaccinating Indian population. Only after getting inoculated, he came to know that Covaxin was not approved by the Saudi government.
According to his visa regulations, Girikumar has to return Saudi before August 30, else he will lose the job.
