Microsoft Teams' Integration With Yammer App Called 'Communities' To Broaden Range Of Communication
The new application will allow users to share surveys or questions on a scale; notify employees of company announcements, and to see the extent and impact of such emissions.
New Delhi, April 21: In a new lease of life, Microsoft’s Yammer has now integrated with Microsoft Teams through a new app called ’Communities’, which will aid the full functionality of Yammer into Microsoft Teams. In 2012, Microsoft had acquired Yammer, an enterprise social networking service but the company had announced to launch a new Yammer app for Microsoft Teams called Communities, which will bring Yammer communities and conversations within the team collaboration hub.
The new application will allow users to share surveys or questions on a scale; notify employees of company announcements, and to see the extent and impact of such emissions. The app will also stream live city council meetings of sorts with video, interactive questions, and Q&A.
“The new Yammer app for Teams keeps everyone connected to what’s happening in their communities conversations, share announcements, attend live events, and connect with coworkers just as you would in the Yammer web or mobile apps,” said Murali Sitaram, General Manager, Yammer and Office 365 Groups, according to OnMSFT, one of the original Microsoft-centered communities.
The app is available in the Teams App Store, though Microsoft plans to bring it to the Teams mobile apps for iOS and Android as well.
Users can get the Communities app from the computer-enabled app store. As an administrator, you can easily choose to set it for all users; manage who can install it through custom policies; or enable individual users to install and fix them themselves.
It was already possible for Microsoft Teams users to add a Yammer group as a tab in a Teams channel, but thanks to this new Yammer Communities app, access to the full Yammer experience is just a click away.
“By bringing Yammer into Teams, we want to make it easier for leaders and communicators to quickly and effectively communicate with their teams and organisations, even when they need to work apart. We’ll continue to create a more seamless Yammer communities experience within Teams, including unifying notifications and search and bringing the Yammer app to Teams mobile,” Sitaram said added.
In recent years, Microsoft has insisted that Teams, Yammer, SharePoint, Outlook and Office 365 teams all play a part in the the company's conversation ecosystem.
