The Hector is the longest SUV in its segment and it also has the longest wheelbase, which is likely to impact its cabin space positively. Production of the Hector has already started in MG’s Halol plant. Its list of features includes some segment-first offerings like a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with internet technology and an integrated e-SIM. The eSIM will offer owners the ability to remotely control some of the features of the Hector, like switching its air-con on. The Hector will also get a panoramic sunroof and a 7-inch multi-information display in the instrument cluster. As far as safety features are concerned, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESP will be available as standard. On the top variant, there will be the option of 6 airbags. The Hector has been spied previously in multiple variants, but MG is yet to officially reveal its variant lineup. Online reports, however, suggest that the mid-size SUV will be available in 4 variants. It will be available as a five-seater only at launch but a seven-seater version is also planned. The five-seat Hector offers boot space of 587 litres, largest in its segment. Apart from the 2.0-litre diesel engine that the Hector will share with the Compass, it will also gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will be available with and without 48V mild hybrid tech. The mild hybrid system is claimed to offer better efficiency thanks to features like engine start-stop and regenerative braking. Additionally, it improves torque and offers some extra boost for acceleration. Here are the details of both the engines: MG Hector Unveiled Ahead Of Launch In June

Thanks to its large dimensions and some unique features, the Hector seems promising on paper. We expect MG to start its prices from around Rs 15 lakh. It will rival the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Tucson in India.
