Maharashtra Minister Ashok Chavan Recovers From Coronavirus; Discharged From Mumbai Hospital
Senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan had tested COVID positive on May 25 and was hospitalized since then.
Maharashtra PWD Minister Ashok Chavan was discharged from hospital on Thursday after he tested negative for COVID-19. The senior Congress member had tested COVID positive on May 25 and was hospitalized since then. According to reports the minister was frequently travelling between Mumbai and his home district in Marathawada when he contracted the virus last month. Chavan was initially admitted to a hospital in Nanded but he chose to leave for Mumbai for treatment and quarantine. He was the second minister of the Uddhav Thackeray government who tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier, the NCP leader and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad had tested positive for coronavirus. He made a full recovery after spending weeks in the hospital. The minister had gone into self-quarantine after his close aide had become coronavirus positive. He was the first minister in the state to have tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile Maharashtra has continued to be the epicenter of coronavirus in India and is leading in the number of coronavirus cases. The state now has a total of 74860 cases. Of these, more than 32,000 people have recovered while nearly 2587 patents succumbed to the deadly disease. .
The total number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 216919 and India is now among the top 7 countries with the highest number of coronavirus cases. The Health Ministry maintains that the recovery rate in India is continuously improving while the fatality rate is declining.
According to data, 104106 people have recovered from the contagious coronavius , and have been dsscharged from the hospital while the death toll has increased to 6075. As per the ministry, the recovery rate of corona patients in the nation is continuously improving and stands at 48.07 per cent now.
