Lockdown In Maharashtra If Covid-19 Cases Keep Rising: CM Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray in press conference informed that the state has reported around 7,000 COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours. He said that if the COVID-19 situation deteriorates further, then the state government will be forced to impose lockdown.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has warned the citizens to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 preventive measures in order to avoid the imposition of complete lockdown in the state. While addressing the people of Maharashtra on Sunday, CM Thackeray in press conference informed that the state has reported around 7,000 COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours. He said that if the COVID-19 situation deteriorates further, then the state government will be forced to impose lockdown.

"Those who want lockdown can roam around without mask while those who don't want it must wear mask and follow all the rules," CM Thackeray said.

Expressing concern over the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, Chief Minister went on to say that the pandemic is raising its head in the state, but whether it is another wave will be known in eight to 15 days. In a Twitter thread post press conference, Thackeray pitched for 'My Family, My Responsibility' campaign in order to waise awareness . He said that it is inhumane to act unconsciously by putting stress on the system. 

In the following tweets, he announced that all political, religious, social processions, rallies, agitations, crowds and large processions will be banned for a few more days starting from tomorrow.

Earlier, there were reports that the government is mulling over imposing a 12-hour night curfew and a strict penalty of Rs 1 lakh on wedding halls that are spotted violating Covid-19 norms by allowing over 50 attendees.

So far, a total of 16,154 people have been fined for not wearing face masks at public places in a single day today in Mumbai. The strict preventive measures have come after states including Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, recorded an upsurge in daily new cases in the last seven days making it a cause of concern for all.

Night Curfew in Pune, Complete Lockdown in Amravati

To control the further spread of the deadly virus, the Pune administration has announced to enforce certain restrictions in the district including night curfew for the people indulged in non-essential services. The crowd will not be allowed to come out of homes between 11 pm and 6 am however, people will be allowed to travel for the essential services. In view of rising Covid-19 cases, Schools & colleges in the district will remain closed till 28 February.

Similarly, one-week complete lockdown has been enforced in Amravati district excluding Achalpur city. Guardian Minister Yashomati Thakur on Sunday announced that essential services permitted will be permitted.
