Couple Arrested For Murdering 4-Year-Old ‘Adopted’ Daughter In Maharashtra
A Maharashtra couple was arrested for allegedly murdering their 4-year-old "adopted" daughter in Sillod. The autopsy revealed injuries launched probe.

A couple who allegedly killed their “adopted” daughter was arrested in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The couple reportedly said that they had adopted the child, Aayat, six months ago.
The 4-year-old was allegedly killed by Sillod residents Fauzia Shaikh, 27, and her husband, Faheem Shaikh, 35, according to a PTI report. They tried to cover up the alleged crime by trying rush the child’s final rites.
On Wednesday, the child was taken to the sub-district hospital around 3 am, but the doctors declared her dead.
However, an individual from their locality tipped the police that the child didn’t die of any illness or health complication. Soon, the police moved quickly and stopped Faheem from burying the child’s body, and it was taken for post-mortem.
The autopsy revealed several injuries on Aayat’s body. The mother told the police that she would beat the child. They were booked for murder, but the police are trying to ascertain if the child was adopted legally, an official from the Sillod police station told PTI.

After the completion of all formalities, the child was buried on Thursday evening.
“The parents will be presented in court Friday,” the official was quoted by PTI.
Murder-Suicide In UP
In another incident, a 36-year-old man allegedly killed his four children before hanging himself in a village under the Roza police station in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Rajiv Kumar, a native of Manpur Chachari village, killed his three daughters – Smriti, 12, Kirti, 9, and Pragati, 7 and five-year-old son Rishabh but slitting their throats. As per PTI, family members revealed that Rajiv had suffered a severe head injury in an accident a year ago and was undergoing treatment. The injury had caused him to become easily agitated, and the injury significantly affected his mental state.
Rajiv killed his children and then hanged himself in another room of his house Wednesday night, according to a PTI report. On Thursday morning, Rajiv's father, who lives in an adjacent house, discovered the carnage.
According to the report, Rajiv's wife, Kranti, had left for her maternal home the previous day. She said Rajiv was abusive and had beaten her six days before the incident, leading her to leave for her mother's house.
