2 Doctors 'Molested At Haryana Medical College While Walking Back To Hostel': Report
The incident reportedly occurred around 11 pm on August 23. The three men allegedly stalked the doctors, who were returning from a 12-hour shift, and threatened to kill them when confronted.
Two junior doctors who were walking back to their hostel were allegedly molested by three men on the campus of the Maharaja Agrasen Medical College in Agroha town of Haryana's Hisar district on August 23, The Times of India reported.
According to the TOI report, the incident occurred around 11 pm. The three men stalked the doctors, who were returning from a 12-hour shift, and threatened to kill them when they were confronted, the report said.
The incident comes close on the heels of a Kolkata doctor's rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and doctors at the Haryana facility have warned of starting a protest from Tuesday if proper action is not taken against the accused.
The TOI report cited a complaint made by one of the doctors, where she said she was walking back to her hostel with her colleague when three men on a two-wheeler made passes at them near the emergency department of the medical college. Initially, they tried to ignore it but the men kept following the doctors, the complaint states.
When the doctors questioned the men, they allegedly hurled abuses at them. The women subsequently tried to rush to the hostel, but the trio allegedly returned to pass comments. The doctors alerted the guard, following which the men escaped from the main gate of the campus, TOI reported.
A case has been filed under relevant sections of the BNS.
While the issue of crimes against women remains a constant concern in India, the doctor's rape and murder in Kolkata has sparked a renewed wave of anger because she was attacked on the campus, while she was resting after a gruelling shift. There have also been allegations of an attempted cover-up by the authorities. One arrest has been made in the case, with the matter now being investigated by the CBI after being initially handled by Kolkata Police.
