Kisan Tractor March: Violence Breaks Out In ITO As Police And Protesters Clash

Scenes for ITO, Delhi shows how things are getting violent between Delhi Police and Farmers.

New Delhi: Chaos and violence took over as the farmers entered Delhi ahead of the decided time. The disarray was caused after the protesters - allowed to hold the "Kisaan Parade" between 12 and 5 PM - began the march much before time and deviated from the agreed routes. Chaos erupted at the borders of the capital as protesters were lathi-charged and tear-gassed by policemen. With the violence swelling up the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the closure of entry/exit gates of Delhi Gate metro station.

Scenes of agitated protesters vandalizing a bus at ITO and using tractors to run over police personnel was captured by ANI.

Farmer unions protesting against the Centre's agri laws said on Sunday that they will go ahead with their proposed tractor parade in Delhi on Republic Day. Addressing a press conference at the Singhu border protest site, union leader Yogendra Yadav said, "We will carry out a tractor parade on the Outer Ring Road in Delhi on Republic Day. The parade will be very peaceful. There will be no disruption of the Republic Day parade. The farmers will put up the national flag on their tractors."

Three routes were cleared for the farmers to hold the parade - 63-km route near Singhu Border,  62.5 km-long route  from Tikri border, a 68-km long route from Ghazipur border that divides Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.  The scenes of today are quite different from what expected.
