Jawa Dealerships to Begin Offline Bookings On 15 December

Booking the bikes at your nearest dealership will give you a first-hand experience of the new Jawas

• Jawa dealerships will bookings as well as test rides on 15 December.
• Prospective customers can still book either of the bikes from Jawa’s website for a token amount of Rs 5,000.
• The Jawa is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh while the Jawa 42 costs Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
• The Jawa Perak is expected to be launched in late-2019. 

Here’s some good news for all those customers eagerly waiting to get their hands on the Jawa duo. Jawa dealerships will commence bookings for the Jawa and Jawa 42 on 15 December. Out of the 100-odd dealerships who have signed up with Jawa, most will begin operations by mid-December. And, If everything goes as planned we could soon expect to see a number of Jawa owners ambling around on their prized possession. 

For the time being though, the bikemaker is accepting bookings from prospective customers via its website for a token amount of Rs 5000, which is fully refundable. Reportedly, these customers will be given first preference over the ones putting down their booking amounts at dealerships. However, compared to the former, the latter will have the liberty to test the bike and make an informed decision rather than going in blindfolded. The Jawa and Jawa 42 cater to slightly different target markets. While the Jawa takes the old-school approach and draws inspiration from the original bike from the ’70s, the 42 is a modern take on the Jawa-Jawa. 

As for its pricing, the Jawa will cost Rs 1.64 lakh while the Jawa 42 is priced at Rs 1.55 lakh. Even though the 42 gets modern elements it’s priced slightly lower than the Jawa. To lower bikes price, Jawa has substituted chrome elements for blacked out components which costs a lot less to manufacture. Also, the rider’s triangle on the 42 is more aggressive compared to the Jawa thanks to a low-set handlebar. 

Aside from a few cosmetic differences, the bikes share the same engine and underpinnings. Powering the duo is the same Mahindra Mojo-derived 293cc, BSVI-compliant, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor mated to a 6-speed transmission. It’s good to make 27PS of power and 28Nm of torque. 

Once launched, the Jawa and Jawa 42 will go up against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the UM Renegade Classic. The Jawa Perak, on the other hand, priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi), is still under development and expected to be launched in the latter half of 2019.
