Indian Army Foils Infiltration Bid In J-K's Poonch, Two Terrorists Killed

In a joint operation, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled the infiltration bid of terrorists and killed them in the Poonch district.

In a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian army foiled the infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district and killed two terrorists on Monday morning, a defence spokesperson said. He further said that a search operation is still underway in the area. The operation was launched on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. In a Tweet, the White Corps said, “Two infiltrators have been eliminated in Operation Bahadur in Poonch.”

The White Corps tweeted, "Operation Bahadur in Poonch Sector. A major infiltration bid was eliminated in a joint operation by Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police during the night of July 17 in Poonch Sector. Two infiltrators have been eliminated.”

Acting on information about suspicious movement along the international border, a joint operation was conducted.

The security forces successfully neutralized the infiltrators and recovered their weapons and ammunition. However, the search operation continues as there is a suspicion of more militants attempting to enter the Indian territory. Reinforcements have been deployed intensifying the search. Bodies of the two terrorists have been recovered and efforts are on to ensure that the area is secure.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident that took place on June 24, an Indian Army soldier was injured in an exchange of fire with terrorists who were attempting to cross the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. This took place after four terrorists were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Machil sector on Friday (June 23).

On June 16, five ‘highly trained’ foreign terrorists of JK Ghaznavi Force were killed in the Jumagund area near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
