Yoga guru and founder of Patanjali Ayurved, Baba Ramdev, issued a clarification over his alleged remarks on Other Backward Class (OBC) after social media users shared a purported video claiming that he insulted the community. Speaking to media persons, he said, "I said Owaisi and not OBC". Purportedly, Owaisi can either be a reference to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party president Asaduddin Owaisi or his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi. "You know Owaisi is not right in his mind, so what's the problem," Ramdev further said.

Ramdev said, "Owaisi and his ancestors have always harboured anti-national sentiments. We shouldn't take him seriously." When reporters pressed him saying, "No sir, OBC," he said, "I have never said anything wrong about OBC (people)."

The clarification from the Yoga guru came after a purported video went viral on social media platform X and users claimed that he insulted the people belonging to the OBC category while allegedly asserting his Brahmin identity. 

In the video, Ramdev can be heard saying in Hindi that he was a Brahmin, an Agnihotri Brahmin. "My original gotra is Brahma gotra. I am an Agnihotri Brahman. People say babaji is OBC...I am a Vedi Brahmin, Dwivedi Brahmin, Trivedi Brahmin, Chaturvedi Brahmin -- I have read four vedas," the Yoga guru was heard saying in the clip from a television channel.
