Will Quit Jobs If...: Wrestlers After Rumours Of Protest Withdrawal Surface Over Return To Duties

Phogat and Punia stated that if their jobs is perceived as a hindrance towards achieving justice, they are prepared to resign from their current positions.

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia have accused their detractors of trying to obstruct their futures after maligning their accomplishments in the Olympic games. The wrestlers have been demonstrating in opposition of the incumbent president of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Singh, news agency ANI reported.

Phogat and Punia voiced their concerns on Twitter, highlighting that their personal safety is in peril. Additionally, they stated that if their jobs is perceived as a hindrance towards achieving justice, they are prepared to resign from their current positions.

“Those who told our medals to be worth Rs 15 each are now after our jobs. Our life is at stake, a job is a very small thing in front of that. If the job is seen to be an obstacle in the way of justice, then we will not take even ten seconds to leave it. Do not show fear of job.” Punia and Phogat tweeted.

Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, both wrestlers, have rejoined the Indian Railway's OSD (Sports) office.

Individuals who oppose Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) leader Brij Bhushan Singh and are members of the grappling community have refuted claims that they have withdrawn from their protests. Satyawart Kadian has stated that there is no truth to reports that they have relented and that they have not made any concessions nor will they retreat.

According to the wrestler, who is also married to renowned wrestler Sakshi Malik, the media is disseminating false information in order to undermine the protest.

Speaking with media, the wrestler stated: “Neither we have compromised, nor we will step back. All this is fake, we will not take back this protest. We will stay united and keep protesting for justice. Fake news is being spread to weaken us… The entire nation is against Delhi Police."

Previously, Bajrang Punia expressed through a tweet that wrestlers have not receded.

“The news of withdrawing the movement is just a rumour. This news is being spread to harm us. We have neither retreated nor have we withdrawn the movement. The news of women wrestlers raising FIR is also false. The fight will continue till justice is served,” tweeted Punia.
