In And Out Of BSP In Nearly 9 Years, Who Is Expelled Leader Akash Anand?

Akash Anand, Mayawati's nephew and BSP official, was expelled from the party on Monday.

Akash Anand, the nephew of Bahujan Samaj Party supremo, Mayawati and party office bearer has been shown the exit door by his aunt. The development came on Monday, a day after he was removed from all key posts in the party.

This is not the first time, though when Akash had a fall from grace in the party. In December 2023, Mayawati had anointed him as the successor of the BSP. However, she sacked him from all party posts during the Lok Sabha election 2024 in May and reinstated him in June.

Expelling him this time, Mayawati said she took the step "in the interest and movement" of the party. She also slammed Akash for his response against the action as "selfish, arrogant, and non-missionary."

In a party meeting on Sunday, Mayawati said Akash was relieved from all responsibilities as he was under the continuous influence of his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth - who was expelled from the party a week ago.

After coming back to India following his education in London, Anand established his business and also got involved in his father's business.

In 2016, Akash entered active politics and worked on several posts.

He was first seen with Mayawati in 2017 after which he was the star campaigner for the party in 2019 Lok Sabha election. Mayawati also declared him the national coordinator of the party.
