West Bengal SSC Scam | Partha Chatterjee's Health Stable, Doesn't Need Hospital Admission: SSKM Hospital

On Sunday, the Calcutta High Court had directed the ED to take Partha Chatterjee to AIIMS Bhubhaneshwar early on Monday by air ambulance.

New Delhi: West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee's health is stable said doctor Tushar Kanti Patra at the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata after the former was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening complaining of "uneasiness". "Medical reports have come, and it is fine. A thorough examination on him was done," Patra said, reported news agency ANI.

The doctor further said that "he had some problems but he did not need to be admitted to the hospital" adding that "he is being monitored closely."

Chatterjee has several health issues and was admitted to the ICCU of the state-run SSKM Hospital hours after the senior minister was remanded to two-day ED custody by a city court. The former education minister of the state was arrested by the enforcement agency on Saturday in connection with a teacher recruitment scam in the state at a time when he held the education portfolio.

Patra's statement comes a day after the TMC leader was shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneshwar from SSKM hospital in an air ambulance following Calcutta High Court's direction on Sunday, to the enforcement agency regarding the same. The Court had also directed that the minister be produced before a special ED court in Kolkata through virtual mode at 4 pm on Monday.

The court had then ordered to send Chatterjee and his close aide and actor Arpita Mukherjee to ED's custody till August 3. The court had also ordered that a medical check-up should be done on the minister every 48 hours.

Bengal industries minister Partha Chatterjee, 69, and his aide Arpita Mukherjee were arrested on July 23 by ED in connection with its investigation into the irregularities in the recruitment drives by the School Service Commission ( SSC).

Meanwhile, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary wrote a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee demanding to sack the minister for his alleged role in the scam. "It is a huge blot on the government of West Bengal. I urge you to sack Shri Partha Chatterjee from Ministership immediately," he said.
