Mamata Reacts To Attack On Saif Ali Khan: 'Trusting That The Law...'

Criticising the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee called this statement an 'anti-national' adding that it is dangerous and should be withdrawn.

Reacting to the knife attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence in Mumbai, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her concern on Thursday and wished for his speedy recovery.

"It's very concerning to hear about the attack on noted actor Saif Ali Khan. I pray for his speedy recovery, trusting that the law will take its course and those responsible will be held accountable," Banerjee said in a post on X. "My thoughts and prayers are with Sharmila Di, Kareena Kapoor, and the entire family during this difficult time," she added.

Saif Ali Khan is now out of danger after receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds, his team confirmed. In the early hours of Thursday, an intruder broke into Saif’s residence in Bandra and attacked him.

According to HT report, the actor was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Saif sustained six stab wounds, including one near his spine and another on his neck.

Mamata Banerjee Condemns Mohan Bhagwat's Remark

Mamata Banerjee also lashed out at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday for associating the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya with the attainment of "true independence" by India, calling it a distortion of history.

Bhagwat had stated that the consecration of the Ram temple should be celebrated as "Pratishtha Dwadashi," marking the establishment of Bharat's "true independence" after centuries of "parachakra" (enemy attack).

"This is anti-national. I strongly condemn this. This is a dangerous remark, it should be withdrawn. This is an attempt to distort history. We are dedicated to keeping our Independence intact, ready to sacrifice our lives for India, but not to tolerate this," Banerjee told news agency PTI.
