Weather Update: Delhi Records Maximum Temperature Of 39.3 Degree Celsius, Notch Below Normal

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 23.1 degree Celsius, three notches below the season’s average, the MeT department added.

New Delhi: Delhiites experienced some respite after severe heatwave conditions for several days as the mercury dipped down to 39.3 degree Celsius on Sunday, a notch below normal, said the Indian Meteorological Department, reported news agency PTI.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 23.1 degree Celsius, three notches below the season’s average, the MeT department added.

On Saturday, the minimum temperature in the national capital was 29.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum 42.4 degrees Celsius, both three notches above normal.

The relative humidity varied between 77 percent and 29 percent on Sunday while the rainfall recorded in the 24 hours till this morning was 0.8 mm, weather officials said, reported the news agency.

The national capital may have generally cloudy skies on Monday and receive light rain with thundershowers and squall of a speed 50-60 kmph, as per the IMD.

The minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be around 27 and 37 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to the weather department, northwestern parts of India can experience some respite over the next three days as an extra-tropical weather system is likely to bring showers over the region with peak intensity rains forecast on Monday. The IMD forecast a wet spell over north west India on May 23 and 24.

As per a Skymet weather report, pre-monsoon rains may become slightly intense over Delhi and the National Capital Region on May 23 and continue until May 24, it said. Thus, temperatures may witness a significant drop over the entire Delhi-NCR, the IMD added.
