Viral Sach: Bank employees asking for commission on cash withdrawal post demonetisation?

NEW DELHI: Though long queues outside bank branches and ATMs, a daily sight since November 8 note ban announcement, have reduced considerably in the last couple of days but trouble for the cash-strapped people is far from over. Amid demonetisation and it's cascading effects that continued to aggravate the hardships of common man, a video has gone viral on social media showing a bank employee in a bad light as he allegedly asked for commission from a customer who visited the branch to withdraw cash. The 44-second video, which is said to be shot inside a branch of State Bank of India, alleged that when a customer visited the bank to withdraw Rs 18,000 cash, the cashier asked for Rs 300 in return as commission. Zeeshan Ahmad, the person who shot the video, said he visited SBI's branch in Swar, Rampur (UP) on December 15 after he ran out of money to pay his college fees. "While the common man is struggling with cash crunch, I witnessed that bank employees were asking for a fat commission in exchange of cash withdrawal. During my turn, I recorded the incident on mobile camera when the cashier asked for Rs 3000, as seen in the video," Ahmad said. He has also registered a complain against the bank employee at Swar police station.
