Villagers attack cops, release 6 people arrested for alleged cow slaughter: UP

Meerut: Villagers attacked a police team and managed to release six persons from their custody in Parikshitgarh area of Meerut district on Friday. All of them were arrested for alleged cow slaughter.  Mob also snatched the meat that the team had seized from the spot. However, later, police force recovered 15 kg of the meat. It was sent for a lab test. As per the reports when the police team reached Ekla Rasoolpur village following a tip-off, the officers found 10 people dressing butchered meat near a pond. While the cops were about to leave with these arrested people and the meat, several women started throwing stones and household articles. In this chaos, six of the accused managed to flee from the police jeep. Officials called for additional forces to reach the scene and with their help recovered 15 kg of meat.
