Mumbai To Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express Hits Herd Of Buffaloes, Engine Damaged

The Gandhinagar to Mumbai Vande Bharat Express was launched on September 30 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

New Delhi: The recently inaugurated Vande Bharat Express running between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar met with an accident on Thursday, after a herd of buffloes came on the tracks. The incident occured at around 11:15 am between Vatva and Maninagar stations. The accident severely damaged the front of the engine, the Western Railway Senior PRO, JK Jayant told ANI.

The Gandhinagar to Mumbai Vande Bharat Express was launched on September 30 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. PM Modi flagged off the train and took a short ride, where he interacted with the workers, staff, engineers and co-passengers. 

This is the third Vande Bharat train in the country, the other two being run between New Delhi - Varanasi and New Delhi - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.

The train connects Gujarat and Maharashtra, and runs six days a week. The train numbered 20901 departs from Mumbai Central at 6:10 am to reach Gandhinagar at 12:30 pm. While returning to Mumbai, the train departs from Gandhinagar station at 2:05 pm to reach Mumbai Central at 8:35 pm.

The new Vande Bharat trains have improved features including reclining seats, automatic fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand content with wifi Facility, three-hour battery backup and GPS systems to make travelling safer and more comfortable.
