New Girl Roshini and Sister Ridha Good Find 👌 The brief yet impactful roles by Mysskin and Samuthirakani add depth to the film," another X user said.

If 2nd half maintains the momentum then easily hits the audience. #Bala #VanangaanReview pic.twitter.com/Gp2OLZ1UuV
Despite the applause, the film has also faced criticism for its storyline and pacing. A X user said, "#ArunVijay fits well into the ‘Bala’-ish actor role. Playing a dumb character his efforts are evident and he carries the film well. The fight sequences are superbly shot. However, the story hasn’t offered much so far and relies on the second half.
Another X user said, "#Vanangaan - Highly Outdated and predictable story. Boring screenplay. Patience tester. Surya great escape. worst. Waste of time."

worst. Waste of time.
#Vanangaan is like a wannabe making a template Bala film, except that it's directed by Bala himself! Some portions and the Bala-isms work, but most often, the storytelling and the filmmaking seem past their expiry date. Even Arun VIjay's robust performance cannot elevate it.

"#Vanangaan - Entire movie was a single scene in Nandha. Although #ArunVijay role reminds off Pithamagan Vikram, but acting 👏 Roshini is good but no scope. BGM 🔥. 1st Half no story. 2nd half average. #Mysskin role is good. Too much violence. Weak Screenplay," said added a Twitterati.
