'Missing Priyanka' posters put up in Raebareli calling her 'emotional blackmailer'

RAEBARELI: Posters terming Priyanka Gandhi Vadra an "emotional blackmailer" found pasted on Monday at several places in Raebareli, the parliamentary constituency of her mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Posters of Priyanka Gandhi, who had actively campaigned for her mother in the run-up to the 2014 parliamentary polls, were seen in the city with "Madam Priyanka missing" and "Emotional blackmailer" written on those.

In a reference to her last-minute visits to Rae Bareli during successive polls and trying to pitch in for her mother by striking the emotional chord of the relationship of the Gandhis with the area, the posters also called her an "emotional blackmailer". They said Vadra plays with the sentiments of the Rae Bareli people only to garner votes. Carrying pictures of Congress President Rahul Gandhi's sibling the posters also asked her when would she visit Rae Bareli next. The posters showed her as "missing", and said while many tragedies struck the constituency since her last visit, Vadra has not bothered to reach out to the people in the Congress borough where she is seen as her mother's heir. The posters also mentioned Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's absence during incidents like the Harchandpur rail tragedy.

They questioned her absence after major train accidents, including at Harchandpur, and the NTPC blast in Unchahar. District Congress spokesperson Lal Ashakiran Pratap Singh said it was an act of "mischievous elements", who wanted to create disturbance. The Gandhi family remained in the hearts of the people here and the members of the family had always stood behind them, he added. (With inputs from agencies)
