The reason behind this lockdown in Uttar Pradesh is that an extensive sanitation campaign will be conducted on this day.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today gave necessary guidelines in a review meeting comprising all the District Magistrates, CM Office officials, Team-11 members, and more.

Some of the directives include:

  • There will be a weekly lockdown on Sunday in all rural and urban areas of the state. During this period, only sanitation, sanitization and emergency services will operate. Necessary awareness works shall also be done in this regard.
  • Last year, the MLA fund proved useful in the work related to the prevention of Covid. This year also, according to the rules of the Covid Care Fund, their funds can be used in Covid Management on the recommendation of the legislators.

  • Mask is mandatory for everyone in the state. A fine of Rs 1000 is imposed for those caught without a mask the first time. If caught without a mask for the second time, a penalty of ten times the amount i.e. Rs 10,000 shall be imposed.
  • There is a need to strengthen the system in all 10 districts with high infection rates like Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi. New Covid hospitals shall be built according to local needs. The beds shall be increased.
  • Private hospitals shall be converted into Covid Hospitals wherein United Medical College in Prayagraj will be converted into a dedicated Covid Hospital.
  • Half of the 108 ambulances shall be kept for the use of Covid patients only.
