Work For 10 Years Or Pay Rs 1 Crore Fine: UP Govt Issues Order For PG Medical Students In State
Amit Mohan Prasad, Principal Health Secretary of UP, on Saturday said, “UP Government mandates 10 years of service in the department for medical students undergoing Post-graduation course in the state. Anyone failing to do so has to pay a fine amount of Rs 1 crore.”
The Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh (UP) has made it mandatory for the doctors who are enrolled in post-graduate courses in the state to serve for at least 10 years in government-run hospitals or medical services or pay a hefty compensation of Rs 1 crore if they leave the job in middle.

The health secretary further added that if any students leave the PG course in between, will be debarred for the next three years from the course.
The decision of the government in the state has been taken in the view of the shortage of specialized doctors in government-run hospitals and health centers.
According to the health secretary, more than 15,000 posts have been created for doctors in government hospitals. 11,000 MBBS doctors are currently posted across the state.
The UP administration has also planned to give concessions in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG exam, for the MBBS doctors who are employed in a rural government hospital for one year will get 10 points, who served for two years will get a rebate of 20 points and for those who three years will get a concession of 30 points in the NEET PG entrance exams.
These doctors can enroll for diploma courses with PG. Every year hundreds of MBBS doctors posted in government hospitals, take admission in PG courses.

According to the UP health ministry, the medical officer will be informed of the job immediately after completing the studies. After PG, government doctors cannot do senior residency and no NOC will be issued from the health ministry in this direction.
