UP Elections 2022: Campaigning Heats Up As Rahul Gandhi To Rally In Prayagraj While CM Yogi On Varanasi Tour

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday evening. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi will attend a public event in Prayagraj before spending the night in Swaraj Bhavan. He will attend the wedding ceremony of Dr. Madhu Chandra, CEO of the hospital run by Kamala Nehru Trust. He will also meet with various Congress leaders at Swaraj Bhavan.
Today, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed media persons on the future projects and their benefits to the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh during a press conference in Gorakhpur. He further targeted previous regimes for ignoring the development in the eastern part of the state.
"On December 7, PM Modi will inaugurate developmental projects worth over Rs 9,600 crore in Gorakhpur. This is the biggest investment in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Gorakhpur Fertilizer Plant. This will not only provide urea and fertilizers to farmers on time but will also increase employment opportunities. Previous governments didn't work for the development of this region of the state," Adityanath was quoted by ANI in its report.
Among the main projects that PM Modi will inaugurate on December 7 are a fertiliser factory, AIIMS Gorakhpur, and the ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Gorakhpur.
In addition, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani will be in Amethi today for a day. Aparna Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav's younger daughter-in-law, will also be on the Amethi visit today.
CM Yogi Adityanath will reach Varanasi on a two-day visit today. He will review the preparations for the inauguration of Chief Minister Kashi Vishwanath Dham and other programmes. In the meeting with the high officials on December 5, the upcoming possible visit of the Prime Minister to his parliamentary constituency will also be discussed in detail.
The Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled for March 2022. Previously, in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 312 seats out of the 403-seat Uttar Pradesh Assembly, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) won 47 seats, the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) won 19, and the Congress managed to win only seven seats.
