UP CM Yogi Adityanath To Meet PM Modi Today, Will There Be A Cabinet Expansion Amid Rumblings?
After holding talks with HM Shah on Thursday, CM Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Modi and party president Nadda Today
New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections and being concerned about the party's image after the havoc created by the second wave of Coronavirus, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. This meeting comes a day after CM Yogi met Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is also scheduled to meet party president JP Nadda after meeting with PM Modi. Adityanath's visit to the national capital to meet the BJP top brass comes close on the heels of the party holding a series of review meetings in Lucknow, which hints towards the possibility of a Cabinet reshuffle as he has to keep the party leadership in the loop.
“Met respected Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi as a courtesy and received his guidance. Heartfelt thanks to the respected home minister for his time,” the CM tweeted in Hindi along with a photo that shows him presenting to Shah a copy of the report 'Solution of Migrant Crisis'.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is facing dissent by the MLAs and MPs which led to review meetings in the state by the saffron party. State leaders of the BJP's ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), including Dattatreya Hosbale, have also given similar reports.
Apna Dal (S) leader Anupriya Patel, a BJP ally from Uttar Pradesh who was a minister in the first Modi-led government, also met Home Minister Amit Shah which suggests that the saffron party is reaching out to build allies to improve its position in the state which will go to the assembly polls early next year.
According to reports, Home Minister Amit Shah wants to make the Yogi Adityanath cabinet and party structure more "accommodating". It will also require a fine balance of caste equations within the organization. The CM currently has 42 ministers and can add 18 more.
Amidst all the review meets and discussions within the party, Jitin Prasada quitting the Congress and joining BJP indicates a big role for him either in the UP cabinet expansion or in the upcoming assembly polls.
