Sitapur: Unnao rape case accused and expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his accomplice Shashi Singh were taken to the National Capital on Sunday evening from Sitapur district jail in Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, both the accused will be presented before Delhi's Tis Hazari Court on Monday in connection with the Unnao rape survivor case after the court issued production warrant against them. While being taken to New Delhi, Sengar was hurdled by reporters who sought his comment on the entire issue. While speaking to the reporters, the expelled BJP MLA said that he believes in God, Supreme Court of India and the Central Bureau of Investigation (BJP) while pointing out that the entire episode is nothing but a political conspiracy against him. "I believe in God, Supreme Court and the CBI. It is easy to level allegations but difficult to prove. It is political controversy. There should be a fair investigation," Sengar told reporters. "I was a BJP worker. I work honestly no matter which party I am in. You go to my village and see what I have done for the poor people," he said. Sengar also stated that he wishes a speedy recovery of the rape victim and her lawyer. Days after the Uttar Pradesh government handed over the case to CBI for quick and fair investigation of the matter, the Central agency carried out searches at the residence of expelled BJP MLA and other accused in connection with the Unnao rape victim's accident case. Sengar, nine others and 15-20 unidentified persons were booked for murder by the CBI in the accident case. On July 30, the car in which the victim, who has accused Sengar of raping her at his residence on June 4, 2017, was travelling was hit by an over-speeding truck in Rae Bareli. Sengar, who is facing a probe since last year, was expelled from the BJP this week after the Uttar Pradesh government came under criticism for not providing enough security to the victim. Two of the victim's aunts were killed, while she and her lawyer were critically injured in the accident.
