Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri responded to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks about the Parliament security breach by saying, "People laugh when he says such things".
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri commented on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's claim about the Parliament security breach on Saturday (December 17), saying, "Rahul Gandhi is one such youth leader who speaks several things. People affiliated with his party's ideology jumped (down the visitor's gallery) in Parliament, and he says that employment is the reason. He makes statements, and people laugh," news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

Puri also said that the Parliament security breach is a serious matter and the Congress leader should not be linking it with unemployment. He also slammed the grand old party and its Wayanad MP over the IT raids that were carried out at Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu's house, saying, "Rs 360 crore were found in their (Congress) MP's (Dhiraj Sahu) house. So, Rahul Gandhi should worry about these things".

Rahul Gandhi, addressing reporters after an election strategy meeting with leaders of the Congress' Gujarat unit in New Delhi, attributed the December 13 Parliament security breach to unemployment and rising prices. According to Gandhi, the breach was an expression of simmering anger among unemployed youngsters who, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies, find themselves without jobs.
"The biggest issue in the country is that of unemployment, which is boiling all over the country. The country's youth are not getting employment due to the policies of Modi ji," Gandhi remarked.

In another development, media reports claim that the Congress will kick off its 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign on December 28 with a public rally in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The Congress is finalising the second leg of party leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, which could begin in a northeastern state in January, as part of its election preparations, Business Standard reported.
In response, Maharashtra BJP leader Narayan Rane dismissed the possibility of any electoral advantage for Congress, stating, "If Rahul Gandhi takes any Yatra now, Congress is not going to get any benefit. Rahul Gandhi has already travelled a lot, and everyone has seen what the results were in the elections of 5 states, we have won in 3 states...Rahul Gandhi has no other issue to speak about, if there is unemployment then will everyone come to the Lok Sabha and jump (from the visitor's gallery). Is there no other way?..."

The BJP countered Gandhi's claims, asserting that he "always talks trash" and highlighted that unemployment in India is at 3.2%, the lowest in six years. BJP's IT in-charge Amit Malviya called for clarification on the linkages of those involved in the Parliament breach with Congress, TMC, and CPI(M). Malviya specifically questioned Rahul Gandhi's association with Asim Sarode, who offered legal aid to the intruders and was part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
