Union Budget 2022: From Agriculture To Defence, Check Budget Allocation For Ministries

While the Ministry of Communications received an allocation of Rs 1,05,406.82 crores, the Ministry of Defence received the largest share of Rs 5,25,166.15 crores.

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2022-23 in Parliament today. The budget focused on providing a blueprint for the next 25 years under the Amrit Kaal in accordance with the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. 

Various Ministries of the Government were allocated different amounts in the Union Budget 2022-23. While the Ministry of Communications received an allocation of Rs 1,05,406.82 crores, the Ministry of Defence received the largest share of Rs 5,25,166.15 crores.

Here Is A List Of Budget Allocation To Various Ministries

  • Ministry of Communications,  Rs 1,05,406.82 crores- The Finance Minister announced in her speech that spectrum auctions will be held this year to roll out 5G services in India within FY 2022-23.  Expansion of rural broadband and laying of optical fibre cable in the rural areas will be completed by 2025, she added. 
  • Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Rs 107715.38 crores-  Government will promote chemical-free natural farming across the country with a focus on farmers lands in five-kilometre wide corridors along the river Ganga, announced Sitharaman. 
  • Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Rs 132513.62 crores - Kisan Drones, chemical-free natural farming, public-private partnerships for the delivery of digital and high-tech services to farmers across the country in the upcoming FY 2022-23 will be promoted, said Sitharaman. 
  • Ministry of Rural Development, Rs 1,38,203.63 crores- The government said that a Public-Private Partnership mode will be launched for delivery of digital and high-tech services to the farmers.  
  • Ministry of Railways, Rs 1,40,367.13 crores- The Finance Minister announced 400 new generation train sets of Vande Bharat that will be launched in next 3 years. 
  • Ministry of Home Affairs, Rs 1,85,776.55 -  E-Passports will be issued by the government with embedded chips. 
  • Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Rs 1,99,107.71 crores- National highways will be expanded by 25,000 km in 2022-23, and 100 PM GatiShakti cargo terminals will be developed in the next three years, announced Sitharaman. 
  • Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Rs. 2,17,684.46 crores- 
  • Ministry of Defence, Rs. 5,25,166.15 crores- Sitharaman announced that 68 percent of the defence procurement budget will be reserved for domestic equipment. Around 25 percent of the allocation will be channelised towards defence research and development.
