Ugly Display Of Faith To Harass Others Won’t Be Tolerated: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

“There is full respect for all the faiths, there is no interference by the state government in religious practices, but the common people should not be harassed,” he said.

New Delhi: Asserting his government gives equal respect to all faiths, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said it won’t be tolerated if people indulge in ugly display of their faith to harass others.

“There is full respect for all the faiths, there is no interference by the state government in religious practices, but the common people should not be harassed,” he said.

Adityanath said the show of communal amity on the occasion of Ram Navami has given a new identity to Uttar Pradesh.

“Ram Navmi was celebrated with peace and harmony and the anti-social elements who tried to vitiate the atmosphere on Hanuman Jayanti were given a befitting reply,” he said speaking to ground-level officers through video conferencing earlier on Wednesday.

Asserting it is a “major achievement of our government”, the Chief Minister said: “We proved that Uttar Pradesh can remain free of riots and can become an example of communal harmony.”

Adityanath asked the officers to gear up for May 3 when Eid and Akshaya Tritiya are likely to be celebrated together.

“As the festival of Akshaya Tritiya and Eid will be celebrated on May 3, the police and administrative officers should remain alert,” he said.

Emphasizing the role of dialogue in democracy, the Chief Minister cited how smoothly loudspeakers at the religious places have been regulated across Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has set an example before the nation by removing unnecessary loudspeakers installed at religious sites or reducing their volumes across the state with harmony.

“Instructions given for the use of loudspeakers should be implemented strictly. The people should not face inconvenience and loudspeakers should not be installed at new sites,” he said.
