Two wheels of a goods train derailed near New Jalpaiguri station in Siliguri and a fire broke out in an air-conditioned coach of Anand Vihar-Jaynagar Garib Rath Express near Bihar's Samastipur.

Two wheels of a goods train Damdim-NJP-Chilahati derailed near New Jalpaiguri station in Siliguri at 11.10 am on Wednesday. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) CPRO Sabyasachi De said the restoration work was completed at 2:17 PM. This comes days after another goods train derailed in Assam's Kamrup district on June 7, news agency PTI reported. Meanwhile, a separate goods train carrying coal derailed between Thadi and Ankapaller railway stations in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. However, the Chief Public Officer of Southern Central Railway said the officials are clearing the railway track at the site.

So far, there is no report of any casualty or injury in the incident, reported news agency ANI. And after second incident, that took place in Andhra Pradesh, about six trains were cancelled and rescheduled.

In a separate incident, a fire broke out in an air-conditioned coach of Anand Vihar-Jaynagar Garib Rath Express near Bihar's Samastipur district earlier on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI. Notably, there were no casualties were reported in this incident too.

Earlier on June 10, the wheel of the last bogie of the Midnapore-Howrah local train was derailed in West Bengal's Kharagpur yard.

According to a railway official, twenty wagons of the coal-laden train jumped tracks at Singra near Boko in the Assam incident on June 7. However, no injury was reported.

The derailed wagons were at the centre of the train which had a total of 60 wagons, the official said. According to the report, the train was bringing coal to Tetelia in the Kamrup Metropolitan district from Asansol in West Bengal.

In the wake of the incident, four passenger trains in the Rangia-Lumding section were cancelled. However, express trains were not affected as rail traffic in the section was lean and confined mostly to goods trains, the official said. Restoration work was completed soon after the incident, the official added.
