Two-storey building collapses in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha, rescue operation underway

There have been multiple incidents of building collapse in the recent past reported from different parts of the country.

New Delhi: In a series of building collapse in the country, yet another incident came to light when a two-storey building in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha fell down on Monday. Three people were safely rescued from the spot and no casualties have been reported. The rescue operation, meanwhile, is underway. More details on the incident are awaited. There have been multiple incidents of building collapse in the recent past reported from different parts of the country. In a similar incident, a five-story building had collapsed in Ghaziabad killing two persons and injuring another eight, a few weeks ago. Here are some recent incidents of building collapse mishaps: • Ghaziabad building collapse Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on July 23, completed the rescue operations in the collapse of the five-storey building in Ghaziabad, in which two people were killed and eight were injured, officials said, adding that four supervisors of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) have been suspended. • Roof of one-room Dwarka house collapses The roof of a house in Delhi's Dwarka area that had weakened over time with seepage collapsed on July 23 in the early hours of the morning. This incident killed a couple and injuring their three children. • Dilapidated two-storey building collapses in Kolkata One person was killed and two others were critically injured on July 23 when a house collapsed in the central part of the Kolkata following heavy rains, a disaster management official said. The incident happened around 2.30 am when a two-storey "dilapidated" building came crumbling down at Baithakkhana Road in Muchipara Police station area of the city. • Another building collapse in Noida In an incident that took place in Sector 63 on July 22, a four-year-old boy was killed and three others, including his parents, both labourers, were injured when the basement wall of an under-construction building collapsed in Noida. • Two-storey building collapses in Pune's Mundhwa Eight people including four children were injured after a two-storey residential building collapsed in Mundhwa area on Saturday afternoon, police said. "A one-year-old girl was among the injured. Building owner Kailash Bhandwalkar, three members of his family and four others from two tenant families were injured," police said. • Noida twin-building collapse A six-floor under-construction building crashed on a five-storey building next to it, bringing it down as well, in Shahberi village under Bisrakh police station area on July 22. A toddler and a women were among 9 who died in the incident. (With inputs from PTI)
