2 Jawans Injured In IED Blast During Anti-Naxal Ops In Chhattisgarh's Dantewada

Two jawans were injured in an IED blast during an anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district today.

Two jawans on Saturday were injured after a pressure Improvised Explosive Device(IED) planted by the Naxals went off during an anti-Naxal operation in the naxal-hit Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh. The blast took place within the limits of Kirandul police station, Dantewada's Superintendent of Police stated.

The jawans who were injured belonged to the 'Bastar Fighters.' They were injured after a pressure IED planted by the Naxalites in the district went off, Chhattisgarh police stated. The incident occurred along the border of Dantewada-Bijapur distrct where a joint team of security personnel was carrying out an anti-Naxal operation, an official stated.

"Personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters - both units of the state police - and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were part of the operation," PTI quoted the official saying.

They were injured while cordoning-off the forest along the inter-district border. The two Bastar fighters accidently stepped over the pressure IED, which trigerred the blast, leaving them injured, the official added.

He also stated that both of them were shifted to a local hospital from where they were further airlifted to the state capital for further medication.

"The injured jawans were said to be out of danger," he added.

3 CRPF Jawans Killed In Bastar

Three CRPF Jawans were killed and 14 were injured in January 2024 in a Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district in South Bastar. The incident occurred at Tekulagudem under the limits of Jagargunda police station.

A joint search party consisting of personnel from CoBRA's 201 battalion, 150 battalion of the CRPF, district reserve group, and special task force (STF) was involved in establishing a Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Tekulagudem when it was attacked by the Maoists.

Tekulagudem, located in the border area of Sukma and Bijapur districts, is said to be a stronghold of Maoists.
