'Tried To Make Him A Successful Leader...': Ghulam Nabi Azad Throws Barb At Rahul Gandhi - WATCH

Praising PM Modi, Azad said: "I thought PM Modi to be a crude man but he showed humanity."

Former Union minister and Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad slammed Congress and stated that "we tried to make Rahul Gandhi a successful leader but he's not interested." The former Congress leader made the remarks while speaking to media in Delhi, news agency ANI reported.

Taking a dig at the Congress, Azad stated: "My respect for Sonia Gandhi is same as 30 yrs back, respect for Rahul Gandhi is same as that befitting Indira Gandhi's family,Rajiv-Sonia Gandhi's son. Personally, I pray for his long life."

Praising PM Modi, Azad said: "I thought PM Modi to be a crude man but he showed humanity."

Following his departure from the party on Friday, Azad was chastised by the Congress for tying his resignation to the end of his Rajya Sabha tenure. The party further claimed that his DNA was "Modi-fied."

“Modi is an excuse, they have had an issue with me since the G23 letter was written. They never wanted anyone to write to them, question them... Several (Congress) meetings happened, but not even a single suggestion was taken,” he stated, PTI reported.

Azad previously resigned from all party positions, blaming Rahul Gandhi's "immaturity" for "demolishing the consultative system" in the party.

Azad alleged in a five-page letter to party interim president Sonia Gandhi that the party is managed by a coterie and that all critical decisions are made by "Shri Rahul Gandhi or, worse, his security guards and PAs."

In his resignation letter, Azad wrote: "Since the 2019 elections the situation in the party has only worsened. After Rahul Gandhi stepped down in a 'huff' and not before insulting all the senior Party functionaries who have given their lives to the party in a meeting of the extended Working Committee, you took over as interim President. A position that you have continue to hold even today for the past three years."

Meanwhile, numerous Jammu and Kashmir political figures met with senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday, who is trying to create a new national party.
