With 3,604 New Cases, India's Covid Tally Surges Past 70K, Death Toll Reaches 2293

India recorded a jump in the total coronavirus cases with a spike of 3604 cases in the last 24 hours. The toll of positive cases has now reached 70756.

New Delhi: India recorded a jump in the total coronavirus cases with a spike of 3604 cases in the last 24 hours. The toll of positive cases has now reached 70756. According to the data from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare there are 46008 active cases, 22454 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 2293 deaths. Maharashtra still leads with highest concentration of coronavirus cases with 23401 active cases. The state has also reported one highest number of deaths with 868 fatalities. Gujarat which is emerging as another big hotspot is placed second in the list with 8541 active cases. According to an IANS report, there is only one district, Amreli left in the state that does not have any coronavirus cases.  On Monday, Junagadh report its first positive case. The state has also recorded a high number of deaths with the toll reaching 513. Tamil Nadu has surpassed Delhi with 8002 active coronavirus cases. The state capital has the highest number of cases followed by Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu. Report by the news agency say that mobile X-ray vans have started in the state that in different places to take a chest X-ray to detect contagious chest diseases and also Covid-19 related chest contagious diseases. Delhi stands fourth in the list of states with a high number of coronavirus cases with 7233 active cases. Yesterday the national capital recorded 310 fresh cases of coronavirus. Other states which have reported more than 3,000 cases are Tamil Nadu (8,002), Rajasthan (3,988), Madhya Pradesh(3,785) and Uttar Pradesh (3,573). Other major states and Union Territories that have reported more than 1,000 cases, are Andhra Pradesh (2,018), West Bengal (2,063), Punjab (1,877) and Telangana (1,275). Among other major states and UTs that have reported a significant number of cases are, Bihar (747), Haryana (730), Jammu and Kashmir (879), Karnataka (862), Kerala (519), Odisha (414), Tripura (152) and Chandigarh (174). States/UTs that have zero coronavirus cases are Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Mizoram and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. All individuals have been cured in these states/UTs and no casualty has been reported from here so far.
