Bihar Election Results, 2015 Least Winning Margins: With the result of crucial Bihar assembly polls just a few hours away, the result of postal ballots are hinting at the winning streaks for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav. However, the battle is fierce as the top constituencies in the state are battling it out. It is to be seen how the votes will play out in the 10 out of these 78 seats, including one of the state minister's seats due to the narrow victory margin witnessed in the last Assembly election. This time the elections are different as the composition of the alliances have undergone a change and the battle has only got fierce on these 10 seats Banmankhi, Kasba, Sikta, Raxaul, Gaighat, Harlakhi, Parihar, Chiraia, Jale, and Benipatti. It is likely that a change in voting pattern may alter the result from the previous election. In 2015, out of these 10 seats, BJP-led NDA won six seats and the grand alliance comprising RJD, JDU and Congress had won four seats including two Congress and one each by RJD and JD(U). It is to be recalled in 2015, Nitish Kumar's cabinet minister for tourism Krishna Kumar Rishi from Banmankhi (SC) was among the 10 winners who made it with the lowest victory margin by defeating Sanjiv Kumar Paswan of RJD with 708 votes only. The poll data from 2015 suggests that while the victory margin was less than 1,000 votes in one Assembly constituency (Banmankhi), there were nine other constituencies where the margin was over 1,000 votes but less than 5,000 votes. In 2015, the BJP and the JD(U) had contested elections on two constituencies Sikta and Jale – in which it had witnessed a close contest, with candidates winning by a margin of fewer than 5,000 votes. The BJP won one of them in a close fight with the current alliance partner JD(U) even as after the election, the JD(U) formed a post-election alliance with the BJP in July 2017.
