'This Is Why Kejriwal Met Him': BJP Seeks Probe Into Uddhav Thackeray's Links To Delhi Liquor Policy Case

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia demanded that the ambit of the ongoing CBI investigation into the alleged Delhi excise policy scam should be extended to Punjab as well.

New Delhi: Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party President Ashish Shelar on Tuesday alleged that Uddhav Thackeray’s government was in touch with liquor mafias at the time when the Aam Aadmi Party “indulged in liquor scam.” Shelar claimed that this was the reason behind Kejriwal and Thackeray’s meeting in Mumbai.

“When AAP indulged in liquor scam, at the same time, Uddhav Thackeray govt was in touch with liquor mafia. That is why exemptions were given for alcohol, we ask if CBI will question Uddhav Thackeray. This is the reason why Kejriwal met him recently,” reported news agency ANI quoting Shelar as saying.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in Mumbai for ABP Network Ideas of India Summit 2023, met former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday. The meeting was called by Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshree in Mumbai. Kejriwal was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MPs and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leaders Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday demanded that the ambit of the ongoing CBI investigation into the alleged Delhi excise policy scam should be extended to neighbouring Punjab saying that the former was also the “architect” of Punjab’s excise policy.

"(The) CBI inquiry into Delhi excise scam should be extended to Punjab. As in the case of Delhi, Deputy CM @msisodia was the architect of the Punjab excise policy also which caused losses of hundreds of crores to the State exchequer," tweeted Majithia.

He also said that a separate Enforcement Directorate inquiry should also be conducted into charges of money laundering in connection with the matter.

"CBI should probe the role of senior officers and AAP politicians who colluded to give huge benefits to select liquor manufacturers at the cost of the State exchequer. A separate Enforcement Directorate inquiry should also be conducted to go into charges of money laundering," Majithia tweeted.
