Bomb Threats Target Multiple Hotels In Thiruvananthapuram; Security Tightened Across City

The bomb threat email to hotels follow a string of similar email threats in recent months targeting government offices and even the Kerala High Court.

Multiple hotels in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram received bomb threats via email on Saturday sparking a major security response. Bomb squads and sniffer dog units were dispatched to the locations, including the Hilton Hotel in the city center, to conduct thorough inspections.

Officials from the Cantonment police station confirmed that the threats warned of imminent IED explosions."Nothing has been found so far. The inspections are going on," an official said, as per a report on PTI.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the email.

This incident follows a string of similar email threats in recent months targeting government offices and even the Kerala High Court, all of which turned out to be hoaxes after detailed security checks.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm while ensuring that all safety protocols are being strictly followed.

Bomb Threats In Kerala

Last month, a bomb threat triggered panic at the Thiruvananthapuram Collectorate, sending police into a frenzy before it was declared a hoax. During the search operation, however, the situation took another turn when swarms of honeybees, disturbed by the activity, stung several people on the premises.

In a similar incident last week, the Kerala High Court received an email warning of a bomb planted on its premises. The threat prompted a swift police response, but after a thorough search, it too was confirmed to be a false alarm.

On Friday night, an explosive device was hurled at a house near the residence of BJP State Vice President Shobha Surendran in Thrissur's Ayyanthol area, causing a loud explosion. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., startled residents. Shobha Surendran, who was at home, recounted hearing a terrifying sound around 10:44 p.m. She urged police to identify the assailants swiftly.
