Tamil Nadu School Academic Calendar 2025–26: Key Quarterly, Half-Yearly, Annual Exam Dates & Vacations Inside

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department released the 2025-26 academic calendar, outlining exam dates and holidays.

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has officially released the academic calendar for the 2025–26 school year, detailing exam schedules, holidays, and new learning initiatives for students across the state.

Tamil Nadu Class 1 to 12: Key Exam & Holiday Dates

Students and parents now have clarity on the academic year ahead, with the department publishing the following important dates:

From 18-09-2025  First Term / Quarterly Exam Begins
29-09-2025 to 03-10-2025 Quarterly Exam Holidays
06-10-2025 Second Term Begins
11-11-2025 to 13-11-2025 Second Mid-Term Exam
15-12-2025 to 23-12-2025

Second Term / Half-Yearly Exam Begins
24-12-2025 to 02-01-2026 Second Term / Half-Yearly Exam Holidays Begin
05-01-2026  Third Term Begins
08-01-2026 to 21-01-2026  First Revision Exam (Class 10-12)
27-01-2026 to 04-02-2026  Second Revision Exam (Class 10-12)
17-02-2026 to 19-02-2026  Third Mid-Term Exam (for Classes 1 to 9)
10-04-2026  Annual Exam Begins
24-04-2026 

Final Working Day of the 2025-2026 Academic Year

New Curriculum & Co-Curricular Enhancements

Alongside the exam calendar, the department has also introduced several educational reforms aimed at holistic development: Two sports classes per week will be made compulsory in all schools. “Easy English” and “Fun with Maths” will be newly introduced for students from Classes 1 to 5, as reported by One India.

Moral instruction classes will also be included in the timetable. Students will receive exposure to a range of extracurricular activities, including: Higher education guidance, Health and environment clubs, Singing and dance sessions. 

Working Days & Weekly Schedule

The total number of working days for the academic year is 210, with all Saturdays and Sundays declared as holidays.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Board of Education, one of India’s oldest and most structured state education systems, is managed by the Department of School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. It oversees academic policies, school management, curriculum development, and examinations across the state.
