Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are set to get their new chief ministers today as oath taking ceremony will take place in both the states on Wednesday. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for a fourth term. Similarly, Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) leader Mohan Charan Majhi will take the oath as the new Chief Minister of Odisha. According to PTI, Prime Minister Modi, along with other senior BJP leaders will attend both events.

Chandrababu Naidu To Be Sworn-In As Andhra Pradesh CM

TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu's swearing-in ceremony is set for 11:27 AM at Kesarapalli IT Park located near Gannavaram Airport on the outskirts of Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad reviewed the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony, stating that the Prime Minister is scheduled to depart from Delhi for Gannavaram Airport at 8:20 AM and will arrive at 10:40 AM on Wednesday, as reported by PTI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief J P Nadda, as well as several other leaders, are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

On Tuesday, in separate meetings, the Telugu Desam Legislature Party and NDA partners elected Naidu as their leader. Addressing the legislators, Naidu asserted that he is committed to developing Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh.

As per PTI, TDP sources stated that invitations have been extended to farmers who gave their land for the construction of the Amaravati capital project and also some people who were allegedly harassed during the previous YSR Congress regime.

Naidu first became the Chief Minister in 1995 and went on to have another two terms. His first two terms as chief minister were at the helm of united Andhra Pradesh, beginning in 1995 and ending in 2004, while the third term came post-bifurcation of the state.

In 2014, Naidu emerged as the first Chief Minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh and served it until 2019. He lost the 2019 polls and was the opposition leader until 2024.

Mohan Charan Majhi To Take Oath As Odisha CM

BJP's tribal leader and four-time MLA Mohan Charan Majhi will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Majhi government on Wednesday at Janata Maidan at 4:55 PM, according to PTI sources.

Union minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday announced Majhi to be the CM and said six-time legislator Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, a debutant MLA, have been made deputy Chief Ministers. The decisions were taken at the BJP legislature party meeting, which unanimously chose 52-year-old Majhi as its leader. Singh and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav attended the meeting as central observers.

Majhi is the third tribal Chief Minister of Odisha after Congress's Hemananda Biswal and Giridhar Gamang. He kicked off his political career as a village sarpanch nearly three decades ago haling from Raikala village in the tribal-dominated and mineral-rich Keonjhar district. He was elected to the assembly for the first time in 2000. Majhi comes from Keonjhar in northern Odisha, while Deo and Parida belong to the western and coastal regions of the state respectively.

The BJD and the BJP were in alliance for 11 years between 1998 and 2009 and fought three Lok Sabha and two Assembly elections together.
