Suspected Hydraulic Failure Forces Emergency Landing Of Air India Express Flight From Sharjah At Kerala Airport
An Air India Express flight from Sharjah made an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport in Kerala on Sunday evening, due to a suspected hydraulic failure.
New Delhi: An Air India Express flight from Sharjah made an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport in Kerala on Sunday evening, due to a suspected hydraulic failure, reported news agency PTI.
A full emergency was declared at the international airport at 8.04 pm as the aircraft prepared to land. The plane landed safely at 8.26 pm, the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) spokesperson said.
"No runway was blocked and no flight had to be diverted due to the emergency. The emergency was called off at 8.36 pm as normal airport operations resumed," he said.
The CIAL also said that all 193 passengers and six crew members onboard flight IX-412 from Sharjah were safe.
Earlier in the day, an Air Asia Lucknow-Kolkata flight made an emergency landing at Lucknow airport after a bird hit, news agency ANI reported.
An Airbus aircraft of Air Aisa with around 170 passengers was deployed for the Kolkata operation, all of whom are safe, the airline said.
"Flight i5-319, scheduled to operate from Lucknow to Kolkata, encountered a bird strike during the take-off roll. As a result, the aircraft returned to bay and was grounded for detailed inspection," an AIX Connect spokesperson said, as per ANI.
"Air Asia flight return back to the Lucknow airport after aircraft suffered bird hit, aircraft was landed safely and all passengers are also safe," an airport official told ANI.
An Air Asia statement informed that the flight i5-319, scheduled to operate from Lucknow to Kolkata, encountered a bird strike during the take-off roll. "As a result, the aircraft returned to bay and was grounded for detailed inspection. Impacted guests were attended to and we are making all efforts to mitigate the impact on the integrity of other scheduled operations," it stated, as per ANI.
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused due to circumstances beyond our control," it added.
