Sushil Kumar Refused To Eat Anything, Cried In Lock-Up: Report

According to a news report, as soon as wrestler Sushil Kumar was lodged in the lock-up of the Model Town police station, he started crying and was awake all night.

The Delhi Police said on Monday said Wrestler Sushil Kumar, arrested for connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl case that led to the death of a 23-year-old wrestler Sagar Dhankar on May 4, was interrogated for almost four hours.

Police on Sunday had arrested Sushil Kumar and his associate Ajay from outer Delhi's Mundka area. Officials said they are investigating the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl case from many different angles.

"We are questioning Kumar to ascertain the sequence of events that transpired and led to the crime and also about his whereabouts after the incident.

"He was also questioned about his associates and friends who helped him to hide. He will be taken to the spot for recreating the crime scene," the officer told PTI.

According to a news report in Hindustan Times' sister publication Livehindustan, as soon as the decorated wrestler was lodged in the lock-up of the Model Town police station, he started crying.

As per the report, Sushil Kumar refused to eat anything and was awake all night inside the lock-up.

The police said further interrogation of Kumar will clear whether the brawl took place over a property dispute.

"The motive behind the attack on wrestler Sagar Rana and his friends, Sonu and Amit Kumar, who were injured will only be clear during interrogation," the police told PTI.

After Sagar Dhankhar's murder, Kala Jathedi Gang was reportedly after Sushil Kumar and his associates. The wrestler is afraid that the henchmen of Kala Jathedi gang might attack him in jail. The police are also probing the link between Sushil and one of the most wanted gangsters, Sandeep aka Kala Jathedi, whose nephew Sonu was injured in the brawl.
