Sukma attack: 'First Naxals sent villagers to trace our location,' says injured CRPF jawan

New Delhi: "First Naxals sent villagers to trace our location, then almost 300 Naxals attacked us. We also fired and killed many", said one of the injured jawans of CRPF, Sher Mohammed, reported ANI, on Monday. "They were around 300 and we were around 150, we kept firing. I shot 3-4 Naxals in the chest", CRPF constable added in a shocking revelation. Meanwhile, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu commenting on Sukma Attack said, these sacrifices shall not go in vain. "Extremely pained to know about killing of CRPF personnel in Sukma. My tributes to the martyrs and condolences to their families", said Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Commenting on attack PM Narendra Modi said-"Attack on CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh is cowardly and deplorable. We are monitoring the situation closely". "Sincere condolences to families of CRPF personnel martyred in the attack in Sukma.We salute sacrifice and courage of our bravehearts", said Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. "Strongly condemn attack on CRPF personnel in Chattisgarh; condolences to families of deceased and prayers for injured", said President Pranab Mukherjee. In a setback to CRPF in Raipur, at least 25 of its personnel were on Monday died in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. More than 300 Naxals attacked CRPF personnel. Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh called emergency meeting on Monday night after 25 CRPF personnel lost their lives. Six were reportedly injured. Those injured in CRPF-Naxals encounter in Chhattisgarh's Sukma shifted to hospital in Raipur and Bastar IG Vivekanand Sinha and DIG Sunderraj left for Sukma. CM cancelled his engagements in Delhi and rushed for Raipur where he held a meeting with other high officials. According to newsagency PTI, the encounter took place at around 12.25 PM between the Burkapal-Chintagufa area of the worst Maoist violence-affected district in south Bastar area of the state. "The Naxals fired at a patrolling party of the CRPF near Burkapal village leaving six personnel injured," Special Director General (anti-Naxal operations) of Chhattisgarh Police, D M Awasthi told PTI.
