Strong tremors were felt in Chandigarh on Tuesday Impact was also felt in Delhi-NCR. An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale also occurred 30km southeast of Kishtwar in Jammu And Kashmir, EMSC informed, as reported by the news agency ANI. The epicentre of the earthquake is in jammu And Kashmir's Doda. The quake was felt post 1:30 pm. Further details are awaited.

Director, National Center for Seismology, Dr OP Mishra said that an tremors might have been felt in HP, Chandigarh, Punjab and all adjoining areas. "An earthquake of 5.4 magnitude was recorded in J&K's Doda today. Tremors might have been felt in HP, Chandigarh, Punjab and all adjoining areas. Maybe the aftershock will be of lesser magnitude than the main shock," Dr OP Mishra said, as quoted by ANI. "The tremors were quite strong. We too rushed out...," Basheer, a local from Srinagar told ANI.

"The earthquake scared school children. People in shops rushed out. It was scary. This was more intense than the tremors last week...," a local from Srinagar said, as quoted by ANI. 

Earlier in the day, an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 jolted Myanmar, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. The NCS said that the earthquake occurred in Myanmar on Tuesday at 2:53 am (IST) and at a depth of 10 kilometres.

NCS tweeted, "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.7, Occurred on 13-06-2023, 02:53:06 IST, Lat: 26.31 & Long: 95.20, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Myanmar." No casualty has been reported yet. Further details are awaited. Earlier on May 31, an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Myanmar, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake hit at a depth of 15 km in Myanmar.
