Srinagar Road To Be Named After Makhan Lal Bindroo Who Was Killed By Terrorists: Mayor

The terrorists shot dead Makhan Lal Bindroo, the owner of Bindroo Medicate, near Srinagar’s Iqbal Park earlier on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the  corporators for voting to pass his resolution naming the road from Ram Bagh Bridge to the High Court as the ‘Makhan Lal Bindroo Road’ in memory of Late Bindroo Sahab, who was killed by the terrorists in October last year.

“Thankful to fellow Hon’ble Corporators for voting today to pass my resolution naming the road from Ram Bagh Bridge to High Court as the ‘Makhan Lal Bindroo Road’ in memory of Late Bindroo Sahab who was killed by terrorists in October last year,” he tweeted.

The terrorists shot dead Makhan Lal Bindroo, the owner of Bindroo Medicate, near Srinagar’s Iqbal Park earlier on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Mattu chaired the 15th General Council Session of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

“Chaired the 15th General Council Session of Srinagar Municipal Corporation today. The house deliberated on various issues of public importance and developmental works in Srinagar,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

Makhan Lal’s daughter Shraddha Bindroo looked extremely upset as she remembered her father stating that he was an awesome person, who served Kashmir and Kashmiriyat.

“His body is gone but his spirit is still alive. Person responsible for the crime has opened doors of hell for himself,” she told the media.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti condemned Bindroo’s killing and said may his family find the strength to deal with this loss.

“Condemn the killing of Shri ML Bindroo who chose to stay back in Kashmir even during the peak of insurgency. Such acts of violence have no place in our society,” she said.
