'Sincerity, Discipline': UPSC Toppers Share Success 'Mantra' To Crack Exams

UPSC on Tuesday declared the results of the Civil Services examinations, 2022. The toppers of the exam have shared their excitement over the outcome and strategy to crack the exam.

The Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday declared the final results of the examination held in 2022. What is really fascinating about the results is the fact that top 4 positions are held by girls and there is only one boy in the top five rank-holders. A total of 933 candidates have been recommended by the UPSC for different services.

The topper of the civil services examination 2022 is Ishita Kishor. Reacting to her achievement, she said that one has to be disciplined and sincere to achieve this feat.

Garima Lohia, who secured AIR 2 in the prestigious examination, accomplished the feat without the assistance of any coaching. She had lost her father four years back but remained resolute to clear the examination.

"I started to prepare for the UPSC civil services in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown. I studied the basic books for UPSC preparation that everyone uses and also took the help of online resources," says the UPSC topper, as quoted by India Today.

"How long one studies is very subjective and differs from person to person. On some days, when I was in a mood, I would even study for 8-10 hours. On other days, I have even stopped at just 2-3 hours of study," Garima added.

She advised the UPSC aspirants to create their own personalised preparation strategies and study in an environment where they feel most comfortable, whether it is at home or elsewhere.

"Work hard, be consistent in your studies, stay disciplined and you will surely achieve success one day," she further said.

N Uma Harathi, who got an all India third rank 3 in the examination, gave credit for her success to her father, reported PTI. A policeman by profession Harathi's father, N Venkateshwarlu is currently serving as the Superintendent of Police of Narayanpet district in Telangana.

Harathi is a B.Tech graduate from IIT Hyderabad and she cleared the exam in her fifth attempt. According to PTI, when reporters' asked who motivated her to prepare for the civil services, she replied, “My father, completely, 100 per cent.”

The only boy in the top five, Mayur Hazarika, is a doctor from Assam's Tezpur and hopes to join the Indian Foreign Service, PTI reported.

Reacting to his success, Hazarika told PTI over the phone, “I am really excited and happy that I am the topper among the successful male candidates. My first preference is IFS through which I want to serve the country,”

Waseem Ahmad Bhat of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag has secured the seventh rank in the prestigious UPSC civil services examination. Bhat had secured the 225th rank last year.

His father said, “My son had qualified for the exam last year. Previously, his rank was 225 but now it is seven. I am delighted. It is an inspiring and happy news for Anantnag as well as Kashmir. We are all very thankful to God.”
